Retirement looming

Just a quick note to say I’m hanging up my spurs at the end of July, which, coincidentally, is when I reach full retirement age for Social Security purposes :grinning:. Although retirement likely would have happened later this year anyway, funding getting yanked from the contract I was working on forced 27 people to “make other plans”. Due to current life circumstances, contracts requiring an on-site presence aren’t a viable option. The timing, although forced, is going to work out well.

I’ll continue to lurk on the forum, but I’d be lying if I said I planned to become a more active participant. Life in a rural setting (up in Oklahoma) will keep me plenty busy, not to mention taking care of several “deferred maintenance” issues. I will miss San Antonio and all my friends and coworkers (current and former), but these days I’m less able to deal with the downside of living in large urban areas, even one as relatively chill as San Antonio.

Respectfully,
–Bob

Congratulations on hitting your full retirement age right on the mark, that is about as clean an exit as anyone could ask for. Rural Oklahoma and a pile of deferred maintenance will keep you plenty busy, I’m sure, and I don’t blame you for trading the urban grind for some quiet.

It was a genuine pleasure working with you, and thank you for everything you contributed to OpenCPI. Lurk all you like on the forum it’ll be good to see your name pop up now and then. Wishing you all the best in this next chapter.
